Linen and Pearls

A gorgeous treasury curated by Katerina from KV Felted Designs.

New Yarn

This amazing yarn is a two ply with one ply being 100% silk in a gorgeous cinnamon color, and the other ply being 100% merino in a red to orange gradient. I personally don't care for red or orange, but this skein is absolutely gorgeous. It's lustrous and soft with just the right amount of drape.

Oh, that's right!

I make knitwear as well! My favorite accessory to make are cowl scarves. They are quick, easy, and fashionable. Some of these I've made with my own homespun yarn, others are made with someone else's homespun, and a couple are made with commercial yarn.

My next favorite thing to make are fingerless mitts. They are more time consuming and there is some measurement involved, and always the thumb to work into it. But I love them and I wear them too.

Some of my yarn

Here is a sampling of my homespun yarn:

This one is called "Dreaming"
And this is "Dusted Rainbow"

I call this one "Hot Cocoa"
 And this one, "Rainbow"
"Spring Rain" the ultra in softness
And finally, "Viola", a lace weight.
Most of my handspun yarns are very soft and can be worn next to the skin.

My projects

Someone told me I needed more pictures, so here we go!

This chunky cowl was made with THE yarn that I purchased on Etsy by a fellow handspinner in Canada. It is so beautiful that I was inspired to get my wheel out and start spinning again. With the help of amazing fiber artists, also on Etsy, I have been able to find beautiful rovings for my handspun yarn projects.

This was made using two strands of yarn together with a simple garter stitch and big needles. I had these beautiful, irridescent Czech glass buttons I had purchased for making jewelry with and they went perfect with this cowl. The yarn is merino, bamboo, and nylon, a totally soft combination. This cowl can be worn snug on the neck (very cozy) or with the top curled over. Either way, it's very comfy and I'm very happy with the way it turned out.

I call it, ELEGANCE

Today's treasury

Here is the treasury I made today. If you want to go to the site here is the URL: http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MjA5NDQwNzl8MjcyMzg5ODYzNA/wind-and-wave?ref=pr_treasury

Next project

Tonight I will by plying 100% merino wool with 100% silk that I've handspun. The merino is a soft red gradient to orange. The silk is cinnamon. I think it's going to be gorgeous!
