I just purchased this roving from Woolgatherings, to make another skein or two of thick and thin. This is also 100% Merino wool but this batch is from Australia and is 15.5 microns; very fine so should make a gorgeous luxury yarn.

Special Treasury
This treasury, made my MJJ Rosebuds, was made in honor of the Shiny Happy People team captain, Heyme, from Heyme's Baltic Amber. He's having some health challenges right now and this treasury is so beautifully done.

New Art Yarn - Corespun!
Well, that was fun. Every inch as it went through my fingers was a wonder. The technique used to spin this yarn means that every color and every texture of the art fiber is spun around a core (of nondescript origin) such that it all shows up. Purple, plum, white, blue, soft, silky, bumpy - everything!
And here are some coasters I whipped up with some of it ...

The Fire Tornado has Arrived!
5 ounces of gorgeous goodness!
Handspun merino, bamboo, and commercial Noro yarn make up this spectacular skein of art yarn.
Almost Ready!
The tornado is spun, still drying. My first small skein of corespun turned out pretty good and, partly because it was a small skein and partly because I wanted to see what it is like to knit with, I turned it into some lovely shabby chic coasters. I'm thinking of tossing them in the wash to see what happens ... maybe they will felt and be even better coasters? I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Upcoming Projects
I've spun some golden bamboo and am waiting for it to dry ... that along with a strand of red to orange gradient merino and some brown and pink Noro yarn I'm going to make another tornado skein wrapped around some nutmeg colored merino. The bamboo should be dry tomorrow. It's going to be interesting.
In the meanwhile, I'm spinning my first corespun yarn and it's almost more fun than the tornado! I have a lovely art batt from Dawning Dreams that is deep red, purple, magenta, white, pink, and several other colors in between and is made out of as many ingredients. I still have a bit more twist than I want, but once I set it it should be ok.

New Skein, Double Ply Worsted
This skein is made with one strand of 100% merino plied with a BFL silk blend. Lovely pinks, mauve, and coppery nutmeg.
Blue Tornado!
This bright blue skein is made of a merino/silk core swirled with cobalt bamboo, the palest blue mohair, and purple alpaca. The overall color is the bright blue of the bamboo.

New Yarn, Alpaca, Merino, Silk
Here is a lovely double ply made of 35% alpaca, 35% merino wool, and 30% tussah silk. I call it "Mauve Morning" because it reminds me of the colors I see on my early morning drive to work.

ART YARN!
I am so hooked, I love it! I have fallen in love with this really tricky technique called "tornado" by Jacey Boggs. My husband had to help me with the strand of mohair because it kept getting tangled up in the other two strands, so it was a togetherness kind of thing, and it took a lot of patience, but it was so fun!
I ran out of the mohair and ended up with only 14 yards, but it's almost 2 ounces, and I think it's really pretty.

The first skein I made also turned out really pretty, but mostly just looks like a two ply. It's almost 6 ounces of soft BFL, silk, alpaca, and merino wool.
